57’s fall to Millionaires

The Swift Current 57’s fell for the fourth time in their opening five games of the Western Major Baseball League regular season in a 10-6 loss to the visiting Melville Millionaires on Tuesday.

One night after getting their first win of the season over Melville, the 57’s were outhit 14—6 and allowed three or more runs in three different innings.

The 57’s are now allowing an average of nine runs per game over the opening five games of the season.

Leadoff man Anthony Stewart led the 57’s with a single, a walk, a stolen base, and two runs scored. The bottom of the order was also productive as Spencer Rankin and Cade Burdett each finished with a hit, a run scored, and a run batted in.

Starter Tommy Steier went 4.1 innings, allowing eight hits, two walks, and six runs while striking out four.

The 57’s (1-4) will host the league leading Moose Jaw Miller Express (5-0) on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.
