Midget 57’s win once at home

The Swift Current 57’s opened their Saskatchewan Premier Midget AAA Baseball League schedule with four games at home over the weekend, winning once during some high scoring affairs.

Saturday, the 57’s lost both games to the visiting Regina Wolfpack. They dropped the opener 13-2 in five innings. Brody Alexandre led the offense with an RBI double and scored a run as the 57’s were held to three hits by Dylan Solie.

The 57’s comeback attempt fell just short in a 10-9 loss in the second game. The 57’s knocked out 15 hits, including five hits, two runs batted in, three runs scored, and one stolen base from third baseman Nolan Klein. Logan Fritzke, Mac Gross, and Nathan McInnis all added two-hit outings.

The 57’s hosted the Muenster Red Sox on Sunday and dropped the opener 15-11.

Josh Piermantier led the 57’s with three hits, including a double, three runs scored, one stolen base, a walk, and one run scored. McInnis doubled three times, knocked home two runs, and scored once.

The 57’s put together a pair of five-run innings to earn their first victory, a 14-11 win over the Red Sox in game two.

Five players had at least two hits, led by third baseman Mac Gross with three hits, two RBI, one stolen base, and one run scored. Brody Alexandre got the win and finished with three RBI, two hits, and one run scored. Brady Bell also had three RBI out of the nine hole during a two-hit outing while scoring a run as well. Shortstop Logan Fritzke added two hits, two RBI, and one run scored.

The 57’s are on the road on Saturday for a double header against the Saskatoon Diamondbacks. They also host the Saskatoon Cubs on Sunday at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. at Mitchell Field.
