The Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats will be well represented at the SaskFirst Female U18 Tournament in Regina this weekend.
This weekend will continue the process of selecting the U18 SaskFirst Team, which will compete at the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, AB. Nine Wildcats remain in the running for Team Sask, which will be led by longtime Wildcats head coach Terry Pavely.
Suiting up for Team 1 will be forwards Brynne Doerksen (Swift Current) and Sara Kendall (Ponteix). They will be joined by Mayteya Dumelie (Glentworth), who skated for the Swift Current AA Broncos this past season.
Team Black will feature three Wildcats as Carissa Hogan (Rosetown), Kenedee Klevgaard (Swift Current), and Taylor Lind (Shaunavon) will all play for the black team.
Swift Current’s Maddy McCleary will be the lone Wildcat on the Team 3 blueline.
Team four will feature three Wildcats, including defensemen Ryleigh White (Warman) and Madison Garrett (Kindersley). They will be joined by forward Crystal Wale (Moose Jaw).
The players and coaches will congregate in Regina today and games will begin on Friday at the Cooperators Centre.
The Wildcats Spring Camp will be held next weekend at the Innovation Credit Union iplex for players born in 2001-2004. The Wildcats placed fifth in the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League regular season with a 12-11-1-4 record before being eliminated in four games by the Regina Rebels in the opening round of the playoffs.
