Wildcats facing playoff elimination after home loss

The Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats are facing playoff elimination after losing 3-1 to the visiting Regina Rebels Wednesday.

The Wildcats will now need to win three straight games to come back from a 2-0 deficit in the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League best-of-five quarter-final series.

The Wildcats failed to scored on seven power play opportunities in the loss and are now zero-for-13 on the man-advantage in the series.

Hanna Bailey, Jenna Merk, and Ally Kosteniuk all scored for the Rebels. Kenedee Klevgaard scored for the Wildcats with assists from Taylor Kirwan and Sara Kendall.

Harper Davey took the loss with 19 saves on 22 shots. Chantel Weller picked up the win with 24 saves on 25 shots.

Game three will be Saturday in Regina. Game four, if necessary, would be Monday in Swift Current at 7:45 p.m. at Fairview West Arena.
