Midget AA Female Broncos advance past Weyburn

The Swift Current Full Line Ag Broncos advanced to the second round of the playoffs with a 5-2 win over the visiting Weyburn Drillers Monday.

The Broncos scored four goals in the first period and never looked back in the third and deciding game of the best-of-three South Sask Female Midget AA Hockey League opening round playoff series.

Josie Calwell led the way with a hat trick, while Mahteya Dumelie and Lexi Cote also scored.

Jenna O’Neill and Chelsea Wilson each added two assists. Bailey Wilson, Kaitlyn Haubrich, Tiana Knight, and Kalea Sauder all added assists.

Allison Wall earned the win with 15 saves as the Broncos outshot the visitors 40-17 to complete the series comeback after losing game one at home.

The fourth seeded Broncos will now face the top seeded Regina Ravens in the best-of-three semi-final series.
