South West in the medals on opening day of Saskatchewan Winter Games

Team South West was credited with four medals on the opening day of the 2018 Saskatchewan Winter Games in North Battleford Monday.

Team South West collected three Judo medals and one Target Shooting medal on opening day. Kolbi Fenrick (Pense) won silver in the -40 KG Female Judo Individual Competition. Teegan Fenrick (Pense) also won silver in the -46 KG Female Judo Individual Competition.

Avery Gibney (Moose Jaw) won bronze in the -40 KG Female Judo Individual Competition. Brody Slade (Tompkins) added a bronze medal in the Target Shooting Super Air Rifle Male competition.

The six-day Games will continue Tuesday. First half sports include Alpine Skiing, Biathlon, Boy’s Curling, Gymnastics, Boy’s Hockey, Judo, Speed Skating, Synchronized Swimming, Target Shooting, and Weightlifting.

Note: some Judo and Alpine Skiing results were still being tallied and were expected to be updated on Tuesday morning.
