The Swift Current Abbey Resources Midget AA Broncos scored three goals over a 2:18 span in the first period to open up a lead they would never relinquish in a 9–3 win over the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors on Wednesday.
Five was the Broncos lucky number as they scored five goals in the first period and finished with five power play goals to clinch their fifth consecutive win in the South Saskatchewan Hockey League.
Hendrik de Klerk led the Broncos with a goal and three assists, followed by Brock Oberle with two goals and one assist and a goal and an assist from Colt Kornfeld. John Priela scored twice, while Kaden Floberg, JC Knight, and Rhett Evjen all added a pair of assists.
Nathan McInnis and Quinn Patenaude also scored, while Hunter Johnson, Riley Skarbon, and Matthew Christianson all added assists. Brad Nyen made 12 saves on 15 shots in the win.
The Broncos improved to 18-7-4-2 with four games remaining in the regular season. They will visit the Weyburn Wings on Friday before home games on Saturday and Sunday against the Regina Rangers.
