Broncos fall in overtime in Brandon

The Swift Current Broncos picked up a single point on the road in a 3-2 overtime loss to the host Brandon Wheat Kings Friday.

Ty Lewis scored the winner on the Wheat Kings’ only shot during the three-on-three overtime period.

Matteo Gennaro scored both goals and now has 10 goals and 14 assists since joining the Broncos in a trade from the Calgary Hitmen. The overage forward has multi-point outings in eight of his 15 games with the Broncos. Max Patterson assisted on both goals and quietly has 10 points in his last nine games.

Baron Thompson and Evan Weinger both scored for Brandon to tie the game in the first and third periods.

Logan Flodell made 32 saves to fall to 23-8-3-0 for the Broncos, while Logan Thompson stopped 24 of 26 shots to improve to 21-10-0-1.

The Broncos remain second in the East Division at 27-10-3-0, four points ahead of Brandon, who improved to 26-12-0-1.

The Broncos will return to Swift Current to host the Regina Pats on Saturday. They also host the Red Deer Rebels on Sunday.
