A resurgent Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires team has received news that they will be returning to one of the most prestigious hockey tournaments in Canada next month.

The Legionnaires have been invited to the 40th Mac’s Midget AAA World Invitational Tournament, which will be held from December 26 – January 1 in Calgary.

First held in 1978, the tournament features 25 male and 15 female teams from Canada, the United States, and Europe.

The Legionnaires are currently fifth in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League with a 9-5-0-2 record. They are coached by Darren Evjen, Guy Jacobson, Rick Tabin, Andy Blanke, and Adam Ward, while Gregg Hurrell, Scott Rumpel, Tracy Tangen, and Mike Balaski round out the staff.

The top finish for the Legionnaires at the Mac’s came in 1998 when they placed second behind the UFA Bisons.
