The Swift Current Broncos used a shutout netminding performance by Logan Flodell and a four-point performance from captain Glenn Gawdin to earn a 4-0 win over the visiting Medicine Hat Tigers on Saturday night.
Flodell turned aside all 38 shots fired his way to earn his second shutout of the season and improve his record to 9-1-1-0.
Gawdin posted his third four point game and third multi goal game of the season while reaching the 30 point plateau on the season. He opened the scoring 5:44 into the game with a shorthanded goal, with Gawdin also assisting on goals from Artyom Minulin and Aleksi Heponiemi as the Broncos opened a 3-0 first period lead.
Gawdin rounded out the scoring with 20 seconds left in the middle period with his second shorthanded goal of the game and his 11th marker of the season.
Swift Current held Medicine Hat scoreless in six power play opportunities, while the Bronco power play was unable to score in their only man advantage situation of the game.
Tigers netminder Jordan Hollett stopped 33 of 37 shots while his season mark dropped to 4-3-0-0.
Swift Current reached the 10-win plateau by improving to 10-2-1-0 and sitting just one point behind the East Division leading Moose Jaw Warriors (11-4-0-0). Medicine Hall falls to 8-6-0-0 and now sits tied for first in the Central Division with the Red Deer Rebels.
The Broncos next action will be on the road against the Prince Albert Raiders on Friday, November 3, with Swift Current returning home for a November 4 contest against the Red Deer Rebels.
