The Swift Current Comp. Ardens won twice in Prince Albert to add a SHSAA 3A Girl’s Soccer Regional title to their trophy case on Saturday.

Two days after winning a ninth straight Moose Jaw League title, the Ardens clinched the Regional title with a win in penalty kicks over the rival Prince Albert Carlton Crusaders. The Ardens scored five goals on five penalty attempts to defeat the host Crusaders.

The Ardens were led in regulation by two goals and one assist from striker Jannae Carlson. Captain Lauryn Hayes assisted on two goals and scored in the 85th minute to force overtime. MJ Anderson also had a goal and an assist.

The Ardens had opened the tournament with an 11-0 win over Lloydminster’s Holy Rosary to clinch a spot at Provincials. Jaden McKenzie and Ali Vance combined to earn the shutout.

Hayes led the Ardens with a hat trick, followed by two goals apiece from Anderson and Taylor Kohls. Carlson, Allison Wall, and Calli Moreau-Simpson all added a goal and an assist. Juliana Whalen also found the back of the net for her first career goal with the Ardens.

Jessica Warren, Rebecca Treen, and Cassie Barber all registered two-assist outings, while Vance and Jodi Jacklin added singles as the Ardens improved to 18-1 on the campaign.

The Ardens will be in Estevan for Provincials next weekend where they look to medal for a third straight season at the eight-team tournament.
