Steenbergen produces third four-goal outing

Tyler Steenbergen registered his third four-goal outing of the season to lead the Swift Current Broncos to a 6-4 win over the host Lethbridge Hurricanes Friday.

The Broncos top line totaled 13 points as Aleksi Heponiemi added a goal and three assists and Glenn Gawdin registered four assists to go with Steenbergen’s five-point outing. Defenseman Sahvan Khaira added a goal and an assist as well.

Logan Flodell improved to 8-0 with 31 saves for the Broncos, while Stuart Skinner took the loss with 12 saves on 17 shots over two periods. Reece Klassen allowed one goal on eight shots over two periods of work.

Jordy Bellerive scored twice for the Hurricanes, while Dylan Cozens and Zane Franklin also counted.

The Broncos scored on both of their power play opportunities, while Lethbridge finished two-for-three on the man-advantage.

Steenbergen leads all WHL skaters with 20 goals and 30 points in only 10 games played. It took the Sylvan Lake product 28 games to reach the 20-goal plateau last season during his 51-goal campaign.

The Broncos improved to 9-1-0-0, while Lethbridge dropped to 4-5-0-0. The Broncos will visit the Kootenay Ice on Saturday.
