Broncos slip past Warriors to remain unbeaten

The Swift Current Broncos unbeaten run to open the Western Hockey League regular season extended to six games with a 4-3 win over the previously unbeaten Moose Jaw Warriors Sunday.

Playing their third game in as many days, the Broncos got goals from four different skater to improve to 5-0 on the road this season. Logan Flodell improved to 4-0 with 31 saves on 34 shots in his third win this weekend.

Connor Chaulk scored the game-winning goal, his second goal of the season, midway through the third period to make it 4-2 before Jett Woo scored late for Moose Jaw for an exciting finish.

Aleksi Heponiemi, Sahvan Khaira, and Tyler Steenbergen, with his league leading 13th goal of the season to extend a five-game goal-scoring binge, also scored for the Broncos.

Jayden Halbgewachs and Noah Gregor also scored for the Warriors, who got 25 saves on 29 shots from Brody Wilms.

The Broncos are now tied for the WHL lead with a 6-0-0-0 record, while Moose Jaw is just two points back at 5-1-0-0.

The Broncos are back at home Tuesday to host the Lethbridge Hurricanes, the first of three home games this week.
