A Swift Current team won four straight playoff games to win a national title at the Mens D Molson Slo-Pitch National Championships in Winnipeg.
The Prides Thunder won seven of eight games at nationals, culminating with a 25-17 win over Abbotsford’s Legends in the gold medal game Monday.
They had finished 3-1 in the round robin with wins over Showtime (MB), Triple X (ON), and the Barley Kings (MB). Their only loss came to the Legends in the round robin to finish second with a 3-1 record.
The Prides Thunder opened the playoffs with a 17-15 win over Pitch Slappers (BC) and then doubled up Triple X (ON) 18-9 in the quarter-final. They secured a spot in the gold medal game with a 21-16 win over the Buddha Battalion (SK) in the semi-final.
