Young musical talent in the spotlight

Music Camp participants had a chance to perform on the Lyric Theatre stage on July 27.

Participants of the Music Camp in Swift Current again had a memorable experience to wrap up an intensive week of music making.

Three groups of musicians aged 13 to 17 took to the Lyric Theatre stage on July 27 for a showcase concert following a week of music instruction.

The young musicians had a series of one-on-one and group sessions during a week of making rock and pop music at Maverick School, at Gowan’s Grove and finally on the Lyric Stage.

Their performance opportunity was designed to give them a professional-like experience to build on their camp sessions on group dynamics and stage presence.

The Music Camp was again instructed by members of Bears in Hazenmore (Dana Rempel, Brady Frank, Darnell Stewart, Dalton Lam, Tanner Wilhelm Hale), and the quintet opened the evening concert with a set of their original songs.

The headliner for the evening concert was Regina singer-songwriter Dagan Harding.
