The Swift Current 57’s took advantage of five errors to end a two-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over the host Weyburn Beavers Saturday.
Texan Matt Michalski improved to 2-0 with a 1.28 earned run average as he held the home team to six hits, one walk, and two runs over seven innings.
Aidan Goodall got the save with two scoreless innings, allowing one hit, one walk, and no runs, while striking out two.
The 57’s took advantage of two errors in the third inning to score unearned runs when Ben Andrews and Keil Krumwiede came around to score. They added the eventual winning run in the sixth inning when Matt Bondarchuk singled, stole second, reached third on an error, and scored on a sacrifice fly from Bodie Cooper.
The 57’s now lead the Eastern Division with a 5-2 record, while Weyburn dropped to 5-3. The two teams will rematch Sunday in Weyburn.
