The Southwest had some strong results at the Rambler Rodeo in Tisdale on April 11-12.
Maple Creek’s Kahl Wasilow opened the season with a Bull Riding victory when he tamed Trader Joe for 84 points and $792.
The Southwest had three of the top four finishers in Tie Down Roping in Tisdale. Consul’s Braden Brost was second in 10.5 seconds for $648. Maple Creek’s Tate Beierbach placed third in 12.2 seconds for $432. Morse’s Tuftin McLeod was fourth in 15.9 seconds for $216. Kobe Kmita (Weyburn) won the event in 9.2 seconds.
Lafleche’s Weston Packet and Jaxon Ward (Colgate) tied for first in Team Roping in 5.6 seconds for $1,908. Also tied for first were Tuftin McLeod and Braden Brost in 5.6 seconds.
Eastend’s Joe Vansandt placed third in Novice Bull Riding with 71 points for $231. Beau Armstrong (Shellbrook) topped the event with 74.5 points.
Morse’s Mallory McLeod placed fourth in Ladies Barrel Racing in 13.48 seconds for $574. Maple Creek’s Kate Beierbach was seventh in 13.68 seconds for $261. Twyla Salmond (Porcupine Plain) won the event in 13.38 seconds.
Clay Greenslade (Rocky View County) won Saddle Bronc with 74 points on Spring Crop.
Colton Ouellette (Rapid View) won Bareback with 74 points on Highliner.
TJ Loeppky (Central Butte) won Steer Wrestling in 4.9 seconds.
Jack Korpusik (Norquay) won Novice Bareback with 53 points on Hillbilly Billy.
Armstrong also won Novice Saddle Bronc with 53 points.
Daylynn Olliver topped Ladies Breakaway Roping in 2.0 seconds.
The Canadian Cowboys Association will be in North Battleford for the Kinsmen Rodeo on April 25-27. The first CCA event in the Southwest will be the Sandhills Rodeo on June 7-8 in Lancer.
