Sask Volleyball and the SunDogs Volleyball Club are hosting the 17U Women Sask Cup #2 tournament in Swift Current this weekend.
“Sask Cups are age-group tournaments that we host throughout the winter, which helps us seed teams for our Provincial Championships,” said Sask Volleyball CEO Aaron Demyen. “Many of the Sask Cups are hosted in the Regina and Saskatoon area, but this weekend we have a fantastic opportunity to bring a major volleyball event to Swift Current, where the community can come out and watch their home team.”
The field includes 28 teams, including the Mercator Financial 17UW SunDogs Elite. Matches will take place the Stockade and Swift Current Comprehensive High School.
The SunDogs will open Division 1 action on Saturday at 10:15 p.m. against Regina QCVC Elite at the Comp. Gymnasium. They will also face Lanigan at 12:30 p.m. and Saskatoon’s Huskies Elite at 2:45 p.m.
“This is a once in a smaller clubs’ lifetime type of experience,” Tara Gottselig, President of the Sundogs Volleyball Club explained. “These are huge tournaments that see teams from across the province and the level of competition will be strong this weekend. We encourage everyone to come out and cheer for our Sundogs.”
