The Swift Current Broncos lost a second straight game at home in a 3-1 setback against the Brandon Wheat Kings on Monday.
Both teams scored in the opening frame. Clarke Caswell scored from in tight midway through the period for his 13th goal for the Broncos. Joby Baumuller replied on the power play with his fifth goal with 3:01 remaining in the first period.
Brandon took their first lead 1:21 into the middle stanza when Marcus Nguyen found the top corner for his team leading 17th goal. Brandon doubled their lead minutes later with a shorthanded goal from Luke Shipley.
Joey Rocha took the loss with 17 saves to fall to 7-3-0-1. Alex Garrett improved to 11-1-1-1 with 31 saves in his second game since being acquired from the Everett Silvertips.
The Broncos fell to 17-16-0-1 with their fifth loss in the last six games. Brandon moved into sixth in the Eastern Conference with a 17-10-3-2record.
The Broncos will visit the Wheat Kings on New Years Day.
