Meyer and Jackson suiting up for Team Sask

A pair of Swift Current basketball players have been busy on the hardwood this summer.

Dani Meyer is part of the U17 Developmental Team Sask squad and Dani Jackson is part of the U15 Nationals Team Sask squad.

Both Teams attended the Prairie Cup Challenge in Brandon on June 30. The U17 Developmental team beat Team Manitoba’s Developmental Team in game one 73-38 and again in game two 61-31 to win the cup in their series.

The U15 Nationals Team lost to Team Manitoba’s Nationals Team in game one 65-63 and won game two 60-55, winning the cup with points for/against.

This past weekend, both teams attended the Swoosh Summer Challenger in Edmonton. The U17 Dev team went 2-1 in their pool, losing to 17U One Possession from Edmonton 59-39 to put them in the consolation final. They beat Swoosh 18U Selects to place third overall.

The U15 Nationals Team went 2-1 their pool as well, losing to 17U One Possession from Edmonton 59-57. They ended up in the final against the 17U One Possession team again, beating them 56-45.

Both teams head to the Hype Her Hoops Mountain Madness tournament in Auburn, WA on July 19-22. After that the U15 and U17 Nationals Teams head to St. John’s, NFLD from August 5-10 for Canada Basketball’s 15U & 17U National Championships.
