The U13 Surge boys basketball team opened their season at the Premier Prairie Classic in Moose Jaw on May 17-19.
They dropped their opener 113-28 to Golden Ticket 1. Gradyn Jackson led the offense with 17 points, followed by six points from Calum Shea and three points from Kaelan Dyck.
The Surge lost their second game 80-78 in overtime to the Martensville Thunder.
Jackson scored 38 points, followed by 14 from Shea, and 11 from Alex Liu.
They dropped their final game 86-46 to XYE Elite.
“XYE was very good at scoring in transition and near the rim. We had a more competitive second half after adjusting our defense,” noted coach Adam Jackson.
Gradyn Jackson led the Surge again with 18 points, followed by eight points from Shea. Toby Plewis chipped in six points.
The U13 Surge will take part in BSI Club Championships in Regina on May 24-26. Their pool includes the Regina Bucks, Greenwave United, and the Humboldt Heat.
