15U AAA 57’s win once during opening weekend

The Swift Current 15U AAA 57’s lost their season opener 9-2 to the Yorkton Cardinals on Saturday. The game was tied 1-1 until Yorkton scored five runs in the fifth inning.

Leadoff man Jamie Kirwan singled, stole a base and scored in the loss. Samuel Olesen walked and scored. Kyron Watson had the only run batted in with a single in the second inning.

Starter Quinn Bolton pitched three scoreless innings, allowing only one hit without allowing a walk.

Yorkton starter Tyler Stewart earned the win as he struck out 10 while allowing one hit over five innings.

The 15U AAA 57’s got into the win column on Sunday when they shutout the Regina Wolfpack 3-0.

Olesen struck out nine in the complete game victory. He allowed only four hits and one walk as he faced 25 batters while throwing 53 strikes out of his economical 76 pitches.

Olesen walked twice and scored two runs to help his cause. Bolton stole a base and scored. Kyron Watson had the only RBI as he walked twice and stole one base.

The 57’s dropped the rematch 11-6 on Sunday afternoon. Owen Odermatt led the 57’s with a single, a double, and two RBI’s.

Drew Johnson worked his way on base with three walks and scored a win. Olesen tripled, scored, and had one RBI.

The 57’s will host the Saskatoon Astros for a double header on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m.
