Structure fire March 20


Swift Current Fire Department crews were dispatched to a structure fire on the 800 block of Central Avenue South on the night of March 2.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a detached garage fully involved. Crews worked vigorously to gain control of the situation and the fire was quickly extinguished. Ventilation and salvage operations were then performed. Heavy structural and content damage occurred, but no injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

Three (3) Swift Current Fire Department vehicles responded to the incident, involving eight (8) Career and eight (8) Auxiliary members. RCMP and Ambulance services, as well as SaskEnergy and City Light & Power were also on scene.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
