Broncos hit with fines and suspension

The Swift Current Broncos were punished by the Western Hockey League for a post-game incident against the Brandon Wheat Kings on March 9.

The Broncos were fined $1,000 for inadequate security and another $1,000 for actions of coach and players. The Brandon Wheat Kings were fined $750 for actions of players.

The more costly disciplinary action may be a five-game suspension to overage forward Caleb Wyrostok for his game misconduct as a repeat offender. Wyrostok has 32 points and 70 penalty minutes in 47 games with the Broncos this season.

The Broncos are currently fourth in the Eastern Conference with a 35-20-4-2 record. They trail the Medicine Hat Tigers by one point for the Central Division lead with three games in hand.

The Broncos visit the Prince Albert Raiders tonight with seven games remaining in the regular season.
