Family Fun Week will be held during the February school break from February 19th to 25th, with many fun activities for the whole family to enjoy!
On Monday, February 19th, the Pioneer Co-op and Innovation Federal Credit Union will host a Family Skate at the InnovationPlex from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm. Participants can enjoy a hot dog combo for $3 and a chance to win some great prizes!
Tuesday, February 20th, there will be Family Swim at the Aquatic Centre from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. This is free for youth ages 14 and under, thanks to the generous support of the Kiwanis Club of Swift Current.
On Wednesday, February 21st, the Swift Current Curling Club will host a free curling clinic from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Please bring an extra pair of clean footwear for the on-ice activity. Helmets are recommended for kids and new curlers; other equipment will be provided as well as snacks. There will also be Lego Club at the Library at 4:00 pm.
On Thursday, February 22nd, enjoy Preschool Storytime Adventure at the Library at 10:00 am. In the evening, there will be public swimming at the Aquatic Centre from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm, free for those ages 14 and under.
On Friday, February 23rd, Tiny Tots will be held at the Library at 10:00 am.
On Saturday, February 24th, The Center will host the “Coldest Night of the Year” event to raise funds to support their much-needed counselling and mentoring programs for youth in our community. To sign up or donate, visit www.cnoy.org.
Finally, on Sunday, February 25th, have fun cross-country skiing or snowshoeing at Chinook Golf Course trails anytime between 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Some equipment will be provided. There will also be hot chocolate, a fire pit, and a meet-and-greet with the Gee Haw Dog Sled. This event is dependent on favourable snow conditions and is hosted by the Swift Current Nordic Ski Club.
In addition, throughout Family Fun Week and thereafter, visit the interesting exhibit at the Swift Current Museum entitled “Iron Willed: Women in STEM” with hands-on activities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The museum is open Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and Saturday 1:00 – 5:00 pm. Admission is free.
