U15 AA Broncos compete at Canadian Crown tournament

The Swift Current Pure Chem Broncos finished with a 3-2 record at the U15 Canadian Crown Tournament in Edmonton.

The Broncos opened the tournament with a 4-3 overtime win over the Airdrie Extreme. Jamie Kirwan led the Broncos with two goals, including the overtime winner. Dane Irwin and Carter Moen also scored.

Tysen Kobley had two assists, while Phil Lewans, Jake Hargrave, Hunter Wilm, and Kasey Gleim all added assists. Cade Mitchell earned the win with 21 saves.

The Broncos lost their second game on Thursday 8-1 to Rink Winnipeg. Gleim scored the only goal with an assist from Moen.

The Broncos lost 6-5 to the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers on Friday after allowing the opening five goals.

Moen led the Broncos with two goals and two assists. Gleim added a goal and two assists, while Wilm registered one goal and one assist. Jaxson Squires also scored, while Hargrave and Ryder Leshures chipped in assists. Mitchell made 23 saves over 40 minutes. Josh Benjamin made six saves over one period of work.

The Broncos rebounded on Saturday with a 4-0 win over the Regina Pat Blues when they fired 50 shots on goal. Mitchell made 17 saves in the shutout.

Wilm and Moen both registered a goal and an assist. Hargrave and Kirwan each contributed two assists. Squires and Juris Busse also scored. Alex Erickson added one assist.

They closed out the tournament with a 6-1 win over Fort Sask in the B Final on Sunday. Moen finished the game with two goals and three assists, followed by two goals and two assists from Wilm and two goals and one assist from Gleim.

Kirwan and Hargrave both had two-assist outings and Olfert added one assist. Josh Benjamin made 29 saves in the win.

The U15 AA Broncos will visit the Sask East Oilers on Friday and the Weyburn Wings on Saturday. They will host the Regina Monarchs on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at S3 West Arena.
