The host Swift Current Southwest Terminal Broncos produced an emphatic 7-0 win over the Weyburn Wings to advance to the South Saskatchewan Peewee AA Hockey League best-of-three semi-final series. The two teams had traded road wins to open the series before the Broncos won at home in blowout fashion Wednesday when they doubled their scoring output in each period.

“I think the boys fought for their lives finally,” said head coach Jason Silzer. “They battled adversity and answered the call today. I was really happy with how they played. It started right from the goaltending out. Our D moved pucks, we got pucks deep and got pucks on net. We really played more the way we should. All the credit to Weyburn, they gave us a heck of a series. They are a really good team there.”

Rylan Silzer had a goal and two assists, Kalan Lind and Brady Wilson each scored twice, and Dayne Feicht added a goal and an assist.

Rylan Hildebrand posted his second shutout of the series in goal. Carter Herman also scored, while Keynan Cairns, Kane Klassen, Anthony Wilson, and Rylan Williams all added single helpers.

The top seeded Broncos (24-1-0) will now face second seeded Estevan (17-7-1) in the championship series. Estevan handed the Broncos their only loss in the regular season.

“We get right on the bus in a couple days to get after it. We have to keep playing this kind of hockey, play every shift hard. They are going to be tougher, so it will be a good series,” explained Silzer.

The Bruins are led by Kaden Chrest, who finished tied for third in league scoring with 48 points in 25 games.

“We kind of just worry about our jobs on the ice. If we continue to play like we did today it should be a good series and we should have a good chance,” said Silzer.
