The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires are atop the Saskatchewan Male U18 AAA Hockey League after a weekend sweep of the visiting Battlefords Stars.
Saturday, the Legionnaires scored four goals in the third period to defeat the Stars 7-5. Berney Weston made 33 saves in the win.
Jace Egland led the Legionnaires with two goals and one assist. Parker Rondeau and Kayd Ruedig each added a goal and two assists, while Sam Kirwan finished with three assists.
Mason Fauser registered one goal and one assist, while Kade Stringer scored the other goal. Cameron Soulsby added one assist.
Sunday, the Legionnaires completed the weekend sweep with a 6-2 win behind a 33-save performance from Jacob Morris.
The Legionnaires scored twice in each period, led by two goals and one assist each from Triston Mitchell-Mcelhone and Stringer. Keegan Nash and Fauser also scored. Ruedig registered two assists, followed by singles from Connor Rieger, Rondeau, Mason Osinski, and Egland.
The Legionnaires finished the weekend in first place with a 17-5-3 record. They
will host the Regina Pat Canadians on Tuesday at 8 p.m.
