Wildcats defeat visiting Gold Wings

The Swift Current Federal Innovation Credit Union Wildcats won once in three attempts in the Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League over the weekend.

Friday, the Wildcats opened the weekend with a 5-2 loss to the host Regina Rebels.

Cassidy Peters and Evangeline Hill scored in the loss with assists from Alexie Palchinski, Alexa Kobley, and Raela Packet. Paige Fischer took the loss with 31 saves.

Hannah Tresek made 24 saves for the Rebels. Berlin Lolacher scored twice, while Brooklyn Nimegeers, Anna Benoit, and Katelyn Marshall also scored.

Saturday, the Wildcats were shutout 3-0 by the Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox.

Jordyn Ottenbreit took the loss with 31 saves. Shay Camphaug earned the shutout with 18 saves for the Hounds. Maisie Kozak, Sasha Malenfant, and Spring Mosset scored for the home team.

The Wildcats responded on Sunday with a 5-2 win over the visiting Weyburn Gold Wings.

Palchinski led the Wildcats with two goals, while Reece Hawkins added with a goal and an assist. Hill and Packet also scored. Dior Stringer added a pair of assists, while Peters and Mardi Wagner added single assists. Fischer earned the win with 23 saves.

Ayla Klus and Kaydence Ray replied for Weyburn, while Hailey Sibbald took the loss with 31 saves.

The Wildcats finished the weekend with a 6-7-1-3 record, in third spot in the seven-team league.

The Wildcats will return to SFU18AAAHL action on Jan. 11 in Saskatoon.
