Darby skates for Saskatchewan at WHL Cup

Swift Current’s Griffin Darby helped Team Saskatchewan win bronze at the WHL Cup last week.

Saskatchewan defeated Team B.C. 6-2 on Sunday to place third at the four-team event in Red Deer.

Darby was the 17th overall pick by the Portland Winterhawks in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft. He has two assists in four games with the U18 AAA Legionnaires this season.

Manitoba won the WHL Cup for the first time with a 6-5 shootout win over Alberta on Sunday.

Manitoba featured Swift Current Broncos prospect Daxon Yerex on the blueline. Yerex was a third round pick in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.

Alberta featured Broncos prospect Sawyer Dingman. The 6’2’’ forward was selected in the second round in 2023. He finished with one goal and two assists in five games in Red Deer.
