U18 AA Broncos win twice on opening weekend

The Swift Current Southwest Sports Excellence U18 AA Broncos won a pair of games over the visiting Weyburn Wings to open the Saskatchewan U18 AA Hockey League regular season.

Saturday, the Broncos scored three unanswered goals in the third period to defeat the Wings 5-2.

Carter Tuplin led the Broncos with two goals, followed by singles from Nate Silbernagel, Ryder Bradford, and Joseph VanSandt. Dylan Gedny, Bradford, and Ryden Lingenfelter all added assists. Connor Bender made 30 saves in the win.

Sunday, the Broncos took the rematch 6-5 in overtime on a Riley Moberg goal, his second of the game.

VanSandt added a goal and one assist. Ty Beaudoin, Tuplin, and Gedny all had two assists. Tyler Hudec, Brett Stusrud, and Bradford also scored. Dylan Hallborg, Silbernagel, and Lingenfelter all added assists.

Rhett Jamieson earned the win with 21 saves.

The Broncos will host the Sask East Oilers this weekend, beginning on Saturday at 7:45 p.m. at S3 West Arena. The rematch will be Sunday at 1:45 p.m. at the InnovationPlex.
