CCA rodeo season winding down

Four Southwest competitors were in the pay window at the Double B Ag Festival in Beausejour, MB on Sept. 9-10.

The Southwest had two money winners in Ladies Breakaway Roping at the Canadian Cowboys Association rodeo. Hazenmore’s Barbara Switzer was second in 3.3 seconds for $583. Swift Current’s Madison Kovar placed sixth in 14.1 seconds for $121. Cougen Phipps (Marshall) won the event in 2.8 seconds. Kovar sat sixth in the season standings, while Switzer was 20th,

Maple Creek’s James Perrin tied for second in Saddle Bronc with 77 points on Rocket Launcher for $561. Colten Powell (Sylvan Lake, AB) won the event with 78 points on Grit Your Teeth. Perrin moved to fifth in the season standings.

Val Marie’s Colt Kornfeld finished fourth in Tie Down Roping in 12.4 seconds for a $277 payday. Denton Dunham (Indian Head) won the event in 8.9 seconds. Kornfeld sat 17th in the event season standings.

The CCA is in Val Marie this weekend for the 58th annual Bob Larson Memorial Indoor Rodeo.

The CCA will be in Beechy on Sept. 22-24 for Beechy Western Days. The CCA Finals will be Oct. 19-22 in Saskatoon.
