The Swift Current U15 Sonic softball team travelled to Battleford for a double-header on Saturday against the Battleford Bandits.
The Sonic offense was firing on all cylinders as 10 different players combined for 13 hits as the Sonic beat the Bandits 15-0 in game one. A six-run second inning and a five-run fifth inning did the damage in the one-sided affair.
Surrey Lamotte, Serena Kochan and Byrnn Haubrich led the way with two hits each. Starting pitcher Bree Pavely pitched four scoreless innings, giving up one hit and recording eight strikeouts. Mackenzie Smith pitched one inning in relief with no runs against and one strikeout.
In the second game, the Sonic used a six-run second inning to take control of the game and cruise to a 9-1 victory. Smith led the way at the plate two-for-three with two RBIs and Bailey Fox went one-for-two with two RBIs.
Smith pitched the first three innings, giving up no runs on two hits and struck out four. Pavely pitched two innings in relief, recording four strikeouts and gave up one run on three hits.
The U15 Sonic currently sit with a record of 16-4-1. The Sonic wrap up their schedule this week with a double-header in Medicine Hat and then will attend the 29-team Saskatchewan Softball U15 B Provincial Championships in Warman.
