Three Southwest competitors produced event wins at the Frontier Days Rodeo in Swift Current.
Tie Down Roping was the top event for the Southwest as four cowboys finished in the money. Consul’s Braden Brost won the event in 9.4 seconds for $1,148. Mankota’s Shawn Williamson was second in 9.5 seconds for $950. Swift Current’s Keith Folk was fifth in 10.6 seconds for $356. Swift Current’s Blaine Switzer tied for sixth in 11.0 seconds for $99.
Mankota’s April Williamson added a win in Ladies Barrel Racing in 17.29 seconds to collect $1,345.
Waldeck’s Tee McLeod worked with Riley Wilson (Cardston, AB) to win Team Roping in 5.1 seconds for $3,132. Consul’s Rylan Brost combined with Shay Gould to place sixth in 9.9 seconds for $540.
Maple Creek’s Cade Sanderson was third in Junior Steer Riding with 70 points for $180. Eastend’s Joe Vansandt was tied for fourth with 69 points for $45. Jett Lockie (Waskada, MB) won the event with 72.5 points.
Maple Creek’s Cody Lane led the Southwest in Saddle Bronc after a 74-point ride on Little P for $421 in fifth spot. Cache Schellenberg (Cochrane, AB) won the event with 80 points on Sweet Something.
Mankota’s Kiera Williamson finished eighth in Ladies Barrel Racing in 3.1 seconds for $99. Macie-Rae Warken won the event in 2.2 seconds.
Dustan McPhee (Hanley) won Bareback with 82.5 points on Dixie Express.
Stefan Tonita (Saskatoon) had the only qualified ride in Bull Riding with 78 points aboard Bardownski.
TJ Loeppky (Central Butte) won Steer Wrestling at Frontier Days in 3.6 seconds.
Casey Thomson (Clinton, BC) won Novice Bareback with 66 points on Big Black.
Brody Hale (Dorothy, AB) won Novice Saddle Bronc with 77.5 points on Whoops.
The Canadian Cowboys Association has rodeos in Weyburn and Wood Mountain this weekend.
