Five Southwest event winners at Kindersley Rodeo

The Canadian Cowboys Association returned to action on June 1-3 at the Kindersley Rodeo. Southwest athletes won five different events at the three-day rodeo.

Maple Creek’s Blake Link won Bareback handily after a 74-point ride on Tee Pee Cushion for $861. Ryan Livingstone, also from Maple Creek, was fourth with 68 points on Fish Mittens for $415.

Maple Creek’s Kate Beierbach sped to an event win in Ladies Barrel Racing in 13.73 seconds for $1,883.

Hazenmore’s Ben Switzer combined with Colter Dunn (Ogema) to win Team Roping in 5.2 seconds for $3,288. Hodgeville’s Ryan Stolson worked with Ty Ellis (Maymont) to place fifth in 7.0 seconds for $1,020.

Eastend’s Joe Vansandt earned the win in Junior Steer Riding with a 71-point ride for $326.

Mankota’s Kiera Williamson added a win in Junior Girls Barrel Racing in 14.60 seconds for $326. Eastend’s Juanita Humphrey was sixth in 15.14 seconds for $56.

Maple Creek’s James Perrin rode Mentally Chill to 76 points for third in Saddle Bronc and an $855 payday. Tyler Winters (Boissevain, MB) won the event with 78 points on Dear Rodeo.

Maple Creek’s Adam Gilchrist finished sixth in Steer Wrestling in 16.2 seconds for $350. Taylor Colter (Weldon) won the event in 6.7 seconds.

Hazenmore’s Barbara Switzer was seventh in Ladies Breakaway Roping in 4.6 seconds to pocket $292. Amy Bowditch (Sylvania) won the event in 2.9 seconds.

Trinity Bear (Whitewood) won Bull Riding with 84.5 points on Holy Moley.

Dunham Stran (Souris, MB) and Garret Hughson (Foremost, AB) tied for top spot in Tie Down Roping in 10.3 seconds.

Marshall Senger (Meadow Lake) won Novice Bareback with a 65-point ride.

Grady Young (Empress, AB) topped Novice Saddle Bronc with 66 points.

The CCA will be in Lancer this weekend for the Sandhills Rodeo.
