A pair of Southwest rodeo families led the way at the Kinsmen Rodeo in North Battleford on April 28-30.
Three Southwest cowboys found the money in Steer Wrestling at the Canadian Cowboys Association event in North Battleford. Maple Creek’s William Beierbach won the event in 4.6 seconds for $594. Kyle’s Harrison Hantelman was right behind him in second in 4.7 seconds for $495. Maple Creek’s Tate Beierbach followed in fifth spot in 20.6 seconds for $198.
Waldeck’s Tyce McLeod picked up an early win in Tie Down Roping in 13.8 seconds for a $684 payday.
Tuftin and Tyce McLeod won Team Roping in 5.1 seconds for $1,670. Scott McLeod worked with Denton Dunham (Indian Head) to place third in 6.8 seconds for $1,094. Shamrock’s Kevin Turner combined with Matt Switzer (Moose Jaw) to place fourth in 7.2 seconds for $806. Hodgeville’s Ryan Stolson placed sixth in Team Roping in 7.5 seconds for $288 with Ty Ellis (Maymont).
Mankota’s Karli Cowie tied for third in Ladies Barrel Racing in 14.12 seconds for $697. Carlie Bowditch (Sylvania) won the event in 14.01 seconds.
Colt Smith (Aldersyde, AB) won Saddle Bronc with 78 points on Black Watch.
Colton Ouellette (Rapid View) rode Lotto for 72 points to top Bareback in North Battleford.
Ty Ellis (Maymont) conquered All In for 83 points to win Bull Riding.
Drake Collins (Moose Jaw) won Junior Girls Barrel Racing in 14.12 seconds.
Chase McNulty (Biggar) won Novice Bareback with 70 points on Anvilhead.
Lonnie Dunn (Big River) earned the win in Novice Saddle Bronc with 70 points on Iron Flower.
Ashley Weber (Carlyle) picked up the Ladies Breakaway Roping win in 2.4 seconds.
Next up the CCA schedule in Saskatchewan will be the Kindersley Rodeo on June 1-3 and Western Days in Unity on June 3-4.
The first CCA rodeo in the Southwest in 2023 will be the Sandhills Rodeo on June 10-11 in Lancer.
