U13 AA Broncos keep season alive with epic comeback

The Swift Current Southwest Terminal Broncos played the opening two games of the Saskatchewan U13 AA Hockey League South Division semi-final against the Prairie Storm.

The Broncos lost the opening game 7-2 in the Balgonie Stardome on Saturday. Alex Erickson and Finn Gustafson scored for the Broncos. Phil Lewans picked up the only assist. Josh Benjamin made 30 saves in a losing cause.

The Broncos fell behind 3-0 early in game two before fighting back with six consecutive goals for a 6-4 win on home ice Sunday to keep their season alive.

Benjamin made 29 saves on 30 shots over the final 55:24 to earn the win. Brody Knakoske, Lewans, and Taye Silbernagel all finished with a goal and an assist. Gustafson, Jace Wills, and Erickson also scored. Luke Mitchell and Dane Irwin added assists.

The third and deciding game will be Saturday in Balgonie.
