The Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats regained control of their Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League opening round playoff series with a 3-2 win over the Regina Rebels Sunday.
The Wildcats got early goals from two unlikely sources before scoring champion Taylor Lind scored the game-winner in the third period to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series.
Rookies Maddy McCleary and Brynne Doerksen each scored in the first period for the Wildcats before Jenna Merk and Elise Morphy replied for the Rebels in the middle stanza.
Mikayla Swallow, Reece Girodat, Lind, and Taylor Kirwan all added assists as the Wildcats won their second game on the road in the series.
Harper Davey got the win with 24 saves. Chantal Burke made 20 saves on 23 shots for the Rebels.
Game four will be played Tuesday at 7:45 p.m. at Fairview West Arena in Swift Current.
