Perlinger named SFU18AAAHL First Star

Swift Current Innovation Credit Union Wildcats captain Caitlyn Perlinger has been named the Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League CCM First Star for the month of January.

The third-year defenseman registered four goals and six assists in eight league games during the month.

“Caitlyn is a hard-working, competitive player who brings many strong attributes to her team,” said head coach Terry Pavely. “She is a strong skater, has an excellent shot, defends well and can add offense from the defense position. Caitlyn is an excellent leader who leads by example with a strong work ethic at practice, workouts and games. Caitlyn is a reliable player in all situations for the Wildcats.”

Perlinger is second amongst all defenseman with eight goals and 15 assists in 27 league games this season, her third in Swift Current. She will represent Saskatchewan at the 2023 Canada Winter Games later this month. Perlinger has committed to play for the University of Calgary Dinos next season.

Saskatoon Stars centre Keyra Buziak was named the Second Star with 18 points in nine games. Prince Albert Northern Bears forward Julia Cey was the Third Star with six points over a five-game span.

The Wildcats (15-8-4-0) will return to league action on Wednesday when they visit the league leading Regina Rebels (20-5-1-0).
