Mortensen named Player of the Week for third time

Dylan Mortensen has been named the Canada West Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week for a third time this season after leading the University of Saskatchewan Huskies to a pair of upset wins over the Trinity Western Spartans over the weekend.

The fifth-year Huskie led the Huskies to a five-set upset on Friday with 16 kills, three blocks, and eight digs. He sealed the win over the defending Canada West champions with a walk-off ace in a 16-14 fifth set.

The 6’8’’ outside hitter added 16 kills and eight blocks on Saturday in another five-set win over the fourth ranked team in U SPORTS.

Mortensen is now second in Canada West in kills with 254 in 61 sets. He is also second with 4.99 points per set.

Saskatchewan and Trinity Western are now tied for third in Canada West with 11-5 records behind Alberta (15-1) and Mount Royal (13-3).

The Huskies will host the University of Manitoba Bisons this weekend.
