Josh Filmon erupted for six goals during an 8-4 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings on Friday. The Broncos sniper entered the game with 14 goals and finished the game with 20 to help the Broncos snap a five-game losing streak.
The New Jersey Devils draft pick opened the game with an even-strength goal 39 seconds into regulation and added a power play goal at the 4:02 mark. He had an even more productive second period with four straight goals, including a shorthanded goal to open his period at the 4:05 mark.
Connor Hvidston and Adam McNutt also scored for the Broncos. Joey Rocha made 18 saves to improve to 3-0-0-0 for the Broncos. Kolby Hay took the loss with 10 saves on 15 shots over 28:02. Ronin Geraghty made 24 saves while allowing three goals over the final 31:58.
Rilen Kovacevic, John Szabo, Mason Finlay, and Reid Larson replied for the Oil Kings, who fell to 4-27-1-0 with their 10th straight loss.
The Broncos improved to 13-15-0-1. They will visit the Red Deer Rebels on Saturday in their final game before Christmas.
Bronco Bits: Kimbi Daniels holds the Broncos franchise record, and is tied for the WHL record with seven goals during a 7-4 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers on Oct. 2, 1990.
