Ardens win bronze in tournament debut

The Swift Current Comp. Ardens Senior Girls basketball team won three of four games to place third in the Gold Division at the BOWLT Classic in Saskatoon.

The Ardens opened their season on Friday with a 59-55 win over the Saskatoon Holy Cross Crusaders. Grade 12 Makayla Fleischfresser led the Ardens with 30 points, followed by 11 from Mia Riegel.

They followed up with a 62-36 win over the Prince Albert St. Mary Marauders that evening. Fleischfresser led the Ardens with 14 points, while Amryne Duncalfe added 10 points.

The Ardens dropped their only game 53-33 to the Regina Harvest City Reapers on Saturday morning.

They rebounded on Saturday afternoon with a 74-56 win over the Saskatoon St. Joseph Guardians. Fleischfresser notched 14 points and Rielle Klassen chipped in 10 points.

The Arden will host their home tournament on Friday and Saturday. They will face the Regina Luther Lions on Friday at 2:30 p.m.

The championship game is slated for Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
