The Swift Current rink representing Saskatchewan won its first game at the 2022 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship in Prince Albert on Sunday.
The rink of skip Shaun Meachem, third Kelly Schafer, second Chris Haichert, and lead Teejay Haichert defeated Alberta 5-2 on Sunday afternoon to open the 14-team event. They scored two with the hammer in the second end and then stole singles in the third and fourth ends take control of the game. Alberta relied with singles in the fifth and sixth ends before Saskatchewan closed the scoring with a single in the seventh end.
Saskatchewan will continue the round robin on Monday against Quebec and Yukon.
