Ardens win twice at SHSAA 5A Provincials

The Swift Current Comp. Ardens settled for a consolation title at SHSAA 5A Girls Soccer Provincials in Regina after losing their opening match before winning their final two matches of the season.

The Ardens lost their opening match 1-0 to the defending provincial champion Saskatoon Holy Cross Crusaders, who would go on to win silver.

The Ardens rebounded with a 9-0 win over the Prince Albert Carlton Crusaders in the consolation semi-final. Grade 12 striker Jaycee Berggren led the Ardens with three goals and one assist. Grade 12 midfielder Tenille Willows added two goals, while rookies Navy Louma and Lauren Hanson added a goal and an assist each. Elizabeth Metke and Olami Akinfiresoye also scored. Nalani Chan and Charlotte Kochan added assists and Emma Moen kept the clean sheet in goal.

The Ardens wrapped up their season with an 8-0 win over Yorkton Regional on Saturday. Berggren erupted for seven goals and one assist in her final high school game. Willows scored the only other goal. Louma added one assist and Moen kept the clean sheet in her final outing for the Ardens.

The Ardens finished the season with a 17-1 record as they won their 13th straight league title.
