Lind wins SFMAAAHL Rookie of the Year

Shaunavon’s Taylor Lind is already well on her way to a decorated career with the Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats.

She clinched the league scoring title on Sunday and Wednesday was named the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League Top Rookie and a forward on the First All-Star Team. Lind, 15, led the league with 36 goals and 58 points in 28 games during her debut campaign. She also led the league with 10 power play goals and 10 power play assists.

Lind became the second Wildcat to win the Kelly Bechard Top Scorer Award. Brienna Gillanders led the league in scoring during the 2008-09 season. Lind is the first Wildcat to win the Dana Antal Top Rookie Award.

Wildcats’ forward Chloe Smith was named to the Second All-Star Team after finishing third in league scoring with 49 points in 28 games. Defenseman Taylor Kirwan was also named to the Second All-Star Team after posting 13 points in 19 games.

The Wildcats will open the SFMAAAHL playoffs Thursday on the road against the Regina Rebels.
