Swift Current’s Dylan Mortensen is representing his country once again.

The 6’8’’ outside hitter was named to the Canadian Men’s U23 roster for the 2022 Bicentennial Independence Cup from June 20-24 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Canada is facing Argentina and Brazil at the event. They opened the event on Monday with a four-set win after dropping the first set 22-25. Canada rebounded with 25-21, 25-22, and 26-24 wins to defeat Argentina.

Mortensen will return to the University of Saskatchewan Huskies this fall for his fifth and final season of eligibility. He was the U Sports and Canada West Men’s Volleyball Rookie of the Year in 2016. He was named a Canada West Second-Team All-Star this past season after finishing second in the conference with 301 kills.
