United teams earn Saskatoon gold

Eight Swift Current United Soccer Club teams took part in the SUSC Indoor Tournament in Saskatoon over the weekend.

The U12 United Girls highlighted the tournament with four straight wins, outscoring four Saskatoon opponents 21-0. They steamrolled through the round robin with three straights victories without allowing a goal. They defeated the Saskatoon Aurora Pulse 6-0, the Saskatoon SUSC Fusion 3-0, and the SUSC Fire 6-0.

The U12 United Girls rematched with the SUSC Fusion in the final on Sunday and clinched the gold medal with a convincing 6-0 win.

The U14 United Boys also won gold with four straight wins. They opened their tournament Saturday afternoon with a 4-2 victory over the Portage Cobras. They followed up Sunday with a dominating 8-0 win over Saskatoon’s Aurora Renegades. They added an 11-0 win over the Kindersley Storm to qualify for the championship match. The U14 Boys faced Nipawin in the gold medal match and won 1-0.

The U12 United Boys won their first three games on their way to a silver medal.

They opened the tournament with a 13-1 win over the SUSC Arsenal on Saturday morning. They followed up with a 4-0 win over the SUSC Impact to conclude the day. They clinched a spot in the playoffs with a 2-1 win over Saskatoon’s Hollandia Birns.

The U12 Boys faced the Portage Cobras in Monday’s championship match and lost 1-0 to win silver.

The U14 United Girls finished with a 2-1 record but did not qualify for the medal round.

They edged Saskatoon’s SUSC Stars 1-0 in their tournament opener Saturday evening.

They lost their second game 1-0 to the SUSC Shock. The U14 United Girls defeated Saskatoon’s Aurora Avalanche 2-0 to conclude the tournament.

The U16 United Girls won twice and lost won but just missed the championship match.

They opened the tournament with a 2-1 win over Regina’s FCR Development on Friday.

Saturday morning, they fell 2-1 to the SUSC Hawks. They rebounded with a 4-1 win over the Aurora Majestic to conclude their weekend.

The U10 United Boys won once in three outings in Saskatoon. They opened the tournament with a 7-0 win over the Kindersley Storm on Sunday afternoon. They suffered a 2-0 loss to Prince Albert Celtic White that evening. The U10 Boys suffered a 5-0 loss to Prince Albert Celtic Markos on Monday morning to conclude the tournament.

The United U18 Girls played in the U20 Premier Division and failed to win in three outings. They tied their opener 2-2 against WHU Juventus on Saturday evening. They lost their second game 2-1 to the Saskatoon Horizon on Sunday afternoon.

The U18 Girls concluded the tournament with a 7-1 loss to Prince Albert Celtic to miss the playoffs.

The U16 United Boys missed the playoffs with a 0-4 record. They lost their opener 4-1 to the Kindersley Storm. They concluded their opening day with a 10-5 loss to Prince Albert Celtic.

The U16 Boys suffered a 7-0 loss Saskatoon’s SUSC Nitro on Sunday morning. They lost 4-1 to SUSC United on Sunday evening to round out their tournament.

Many of the United teams will be back in Saskatoon for the 6v6 Indoor Youth Provincials Championships on Feb. 24-26.
