U13 Surge win tournament debut

The U13 Surge girls basketball team won all four games to claim gold at the Saskatoon Slam Prairie Season Opener. The Surge won three games to top their pool at the eight-team event to open the spring club season.

They defeated the Misfits U12 team 46-28 to open the tournament on Friday. Aftyn Bakus led the Surge with 12 points and Danica Jackson was named Player of the Game.

The Surge followed up with a 40-38 win over the Wolfpack on Saturday. Jackson led the way with 23 points and Anahra Henderson was named Player of the Game.

The Surge added a 49-32 win over the Saskatoon Slam U11 later in the day when Jackson scored 16 points and Bakus was named Player of the Game.

The Surge clinched gold with a 42-29 win over the Saskatoon Slam 2010 on Sunday. Talyah Cuthbert paced the Surge with 15 points and Hailey Bollinger was named Player of the Game.

The U13 Surge will return to action at the Moose Jaw Spartans 2022 Premier Prairie Classic on May 20-22.
