Some familiar Southwest cowboys earned event wins at the Rambler Rodeo in Tisdale to open the Canadian Cowboys Association 2022 season.
Waldeck’s Tyce McLeod opened the season with a win in Tie Down Roping in 11.7 seconds for a $612 payday.
Tuftin McLeod was also in the winners circle in top spot in Team Roping when he worked with Devin Wigemyr (Brooks, AB) to finish in 5.8 seconds for $1,305. Hodgeville’s Ryan Stolson placed fourth with Tyer Kmita (Weyburn) in 7.7 seconds for $630.
Hazenmore’s Chanse Switzer got his season off to a good start with a second-place finish in Bull Riding. He conquered Sweetbra for 80.5 points to claim $570. David Weston rode Bunged Up for 83.5 points to win the event.
Val Marie’s Riley Hayes added a fourth-place finish in Steer Wrestling in 15.1 seconds for $252.
Cadillac’s Brooke Lang was fourth in Ladies Breakaway Roping in 4.2 seconds for $289 in Tisdale. Denver Van Metre (Paradise Hill) won the event in 2.9 seconds.
The CCA returns to action on April 29 – May 1 with the Kinsmen Rodeo in North Battleford.
