Seven members of the Swift Current Broncos will represent their countries at the upcoming 2022 IIHF World U18 Championship in Germany.

Just two days after the Broncos were eliminated from playoff contention, Hockey Canada announced that Reid Dyck, Owen Pickering, Mathew Ward, Josh Filmon, Josh Davies, and Connor Hvidston will all suit up for Canada. Import defenseman Rayan Bettahar will play for the host nation.

“As an organization we are extremely proud of our players,” said Broncos general manager Chad Leslie. “All seven of these guys have shown tremendous growth and maturation in their individual development which has gotten them to this point. The opportunity to play for your country is an honour, and I know they will represent the Swift Current Broncos very well.”

Canada will open the tournament on Saturday against the United States of America. They will face Bettahar and Germany on Sunday.

The six current Broncos will become the first Broncos players to skate for Canada at the tournament since Glenn Gawdin in 2014-15.
